Tech Tip #2 – Reinstalling Backups/Programs
 

This Tech Tip is going to be a longer tip addressing the reinstalling of programs that might be missing from your computer. I'll address these below, so you might scan through the list paying particular attention to those programs/issues that are affecting you.

Networked Printers (printers that print to a different room)
Yes, even you can install your own printer! If you are wanting to hook to a networked printer (one that prints in another room) go to http://iprint/ipp and scroll through the list to find your desired printer. Just click the link - everything is done for you! Go to http://www1.center.k12.mo.us/edtech/help/printers/index.htm if you need more help with your printer.

Local printers (printers that are sitting on your desk directly connected to your computer)
If you have purchased your own personal printer, we would ask that you bring the disk with the drivers in and set that printer up yourself. Our priority right now is to make sure you can print to a networked printer.

Your backed up My Documents (as we asked you to do last year)
Just open your H Drive, right click your My Documents folder, copy it, then go back to your My Documents and paste. BETTER YET, just get in the habit of ALWAYS saving to your H Drive.

Your backed up Internet Favorites (as we asked you to do last year)
Again, open your H Drive. You should have saved a Favorites folder last year. Right click the Favorites folder, select copy. Then open My Computer, Local Disk (C:), Documents and Settings, your first initial last name folder then right click and paste. Your favorites will now be under your Favorites tool bar in your Internet browser.

And while we are discussing H Drives, remember NOT to store downloaded music, videos or pictures to your H Drive. We are starting to limit the amount of space you have on your H Drive.

Tech Tip #3 – Home Access
 

This tip is just a reminder that you have home access to programs you use in the district. (This is also a great way to access school accounts when you can't get logged on the network!)

Tech Tip #4 – Three ways to Orientate your SMART Board
 

One of the easiest things to keep your SMART Board in good working condition is to reorientate it regularly. You know you will need to reorientate when you are writing at one spot in Notebook but the annotation is displaying an inch or two away from your point. This tip will share three ways to reorientate your board.

1. Push down the two buttons, the right click and keyboard buttons, on the pen tray. You will find these to the right of your styluses. (I have found that the trick is to push the right click button, hold it down, then push the keyboard button, release the keyboard button, then release the right click button.)

2. The second way is to click the SMART Board icon in the system tool tray in the lower right hand corner by the time and select Orient from the menu.

3. Finally, do you use the Start Center? It's the vertical tool bar with the icons of SMART Board tools available. The icon with the ellipsis (three dots) will also give you the option of reorientation.

Tech Tip #5 – Precise SMART Board Orientation
 

Last week I shared several ways to reorientate your SMART Board. This week I want to continue with orientation issues. There is a way to set your board to orientate to more than just 9 points. Orientating to more than the 9 points would be a good thing to do for more precise orientation or if your board doesn't stay orientated very well. Here are the steps for changing that.

1. Open the SMART Board control panel. (Click the SMART Board icon in the tool tray by the time, select control panel.)
2. Select SMART Board Settings.
3. Using the drop down menu, select Orientation/Alignment Settings.
4. Change the settings to Wide Standard or Fine Point precision.
5. Click OK and try reorientating your board.

Tech Tip #6 – Care for Projector Bulbs
 

This tip is just a reminder about the care of your projector bulbs. Projector bulbs are very expensive, so please keep this tips in mind as you use your projector:

1. If you will not be using your projector for longer than the next 20 minutes, TURN IT OFF! It saves bulb life!
2. If your screen saver comes on, turn off your projector. That's a pretty good sign you are not using the SMART Board, therefore don't need the project on.
3. Try to keep your chalk use to a minimum. The extra dust chalk produces is hard on the projector and shortens bulb life.

Tech Tip #7 – The Notebook Gallery
 

This tip is has a spreadsheet of all the content available in the Notebook Gallery. In case you aren't familiar with the Gallery, you should check it out! There is content for all subject areas including handwriting paper, graph paper, famous art (Mona Lisa, David, etc.), continent and other maps, MLK Jr.'s speech, moon landings, Venn diagrams, and activities for changes of states of matter structure of organs and the rock cycle.

Tech Tip #8 – Organizing the Gallery
 

The first thing to do is find the collection in the Gallery. For my example, I'll use graph paper. So I would click the Gallery tab, expand Essentials for Educators by clicking the plus sign to the left of the label, expand Mathematics, expand General Resources and select Paper Backgrounds. Once Paper Backgrounds is selected, you'll notice a drop down arrow to the right of the label. Clicking the drop down arrow will open a menu of options. Select the Add To My Content option. It might take a minute, but this will copy this entire Paper Background collection under your My Content. Notice, too, that you can select an individual object in the Gallery, such as backgrounds, clipart, etc, and using the same drop down menu can send it straight to your My Content as well.

When you are ready to use the content in your My Content, just expand My Content and you will see everything you have added.

Tech Tip #9 – Printing in Notebook
 

Have you tried recently to print in Notebook? With the updated version we are using, you have more printing options than before. When you go to File, Print, you have several options.

1. Thumbnails - prints just images of Notebook slides. Notice you have four options in the dropdown menu under Thumbnail Size. Small allows 6 slides per page, medium allows 4 slides, large allows 2 slides and full page is a single slide per printed page.
2. Handouts - in a similar manner as printing handouts in PowerPoint, this feature prints your slide with lines for notes off to the right.
3. Full page - finally you can print a Notebook slide and it will print in a full page! Many of you have asked about this and it was finally updated!
Tech Tip #10 – Online Interactive Notebook Lessons
 

Did you know SMART Tech has Notebook lessons already developed posted online? These are great lessons for adding interactivity in student use of the SMART Board. These files are easy to open and ready for you to use as they are. Or you can download the file, make your changes specific to your curriculum, and use with your class.

These lesson are found at http://www.education.smarttech.com/ste/en-US/Ed+Resource/Lesson+activities/Notebook+activities/. You will find everything from Pythagorean Theorem, animal/human cells, biomes, ancient history, to a basic use of parts of speech.

Tech Tip #11 – Lesson Activity Toolkit
 

SMART has a new Lesson Activity Toolkit. It's definitely worth downloading and checking out! It is a program that downloads right into Notebook that gives you lots of options for interactive Notebook pages - word matching, category sorting, multiple choice, word guess (hangman), and note reveal (for revealing one step at a time). The best part of this new program is there is a self checking feature for the kids to use.

Once you have it downloaded, access each option for activities through the Gallery tab. There will be a Lesson Activity Toolkit category under your Essentials for Educators. Expand the Lesson Activity Toolkit, then expand Activities, choose an activity (Category Sort, Key Word Match, etc.) and open it in Notebook by dragging it into the working area of Notebook (the white area). Then set up each activity by clicking the Edit button and follow the directions for editing. When you are done, click OK to get back to the interactive activity. It's literally that simple! Your Notebook files can now be very interactive, self-checking and engaging for your students with very little work and time spent by you! :)

Tech Tip #12 – Capturing in Notebook
 

This tip is to remind you of the capturing feature in Notebook. Capturing to SMART Notebook allows you to take a document and make it interactive. The easiest way to do this is to first open Notebook. Then open your Word, Excel, PowerPoint or even Internet page, go to File, Print, select SMART Notebook Print Capture from the drop down menu next to the printer name and then click OK. When you go back to Notebook, you'll have the entire document or site captured.
 
Advanced tip - you can also capture just certain pages. In the same way you tell the printer you only want to print pages 2-7, you also can capture pages 2-7. Try it out at a site like http://greece.k12.ny.us/instruction/ela/6-12/Tools/Index.htm with a graphic organizer or http://dese.mo.gov/divimprove/assess/content.html with MAP released items.
 
This is a great time saver when you have a premade document such as a study guide, graphic organizer, or other document and you want to be able to annotate on it.

Tech Tip #13 – SMART Video Player
 
When you play your United Streaming videos, do you ever stop the video to discuss content, the image, or wish you could annotate over it? Next time try playing your video clip with the SMART Video Player. Here's what to do.
1. Download the United Streaming clip. As always, please download this to your computer's hard drive - that would be your desktop or your My Documents, not your H Drive.
2. Open the SMART Video Player. It can be found by going to Start, Programs, SMART Board Software, then SMART Video Player.
3. Open the saved video clip. Go to File, Open, then navigate to the location of the downloaded video. The video will open and begin playing.
 
So, what's the advantage of this process of viewing videos?
1. You can annotate on the video. Once you pick up a stylus, the video will stop allowing you to make your annotations.
2. Annotations can be captured. After making the annotations, click the capture icon (the camera) and the image from the video with your annotations will go straight to Notebook.
3. Notebook files with the captured images can be saved. This allows for an easy way to revisit the content without showing the video clip again.
Tech Tip #14 – SMART Recorder
 
Do you have any students who are homebound, have been out sick or parents wondering how to help their child with work from your class? Would a recorded example of classwork help? Notebook has a SMART Recorder that might help. Here's what to do:
1. Open the SMART Recorder. This can be found by going to Start, Programs, SMART Board Software, SMART Recorder or launching it from the Start Center tool bar.
2. A small recording window will launch. Click the record button (red dot).
3. Once you are recording, everything will be recorded - opening documents, annotations, navigations, etc. So now is the time to illustrate what you want recorded.
4. Once you have completed the series of events to be recorded, click the stop button (blue square).
5. Save your recording to either you desktop or My Documents. By default it will save as the date, so be sure to rename it.
6. After saving the recording, you might want to burn it to a CD so you can send it home with your students.

Why would you want to do something like this? What about showing steps in a process, mathematical equations, finding key words or context clues, or anything else that could be illustrated.

Tech Tip #15 – United Streaming
  Have you been using your United Streaming account? http://www.unitedstreaming.com United Streaming is online educational video streaming to which the district subscribes. Videos are set up in segments, so after you have found a suitable video through searching, you can determine which segments to view in your classroom - a great time saver especially when you don't have a full 30 minutes to an hour to view a video! Video segments can be as short as 2 minutes and as long as the entire video if you choose to play the whole thing.

When viewing United Streaming videos, it's probably best just to stream the video. This can be done by clicking the play button once you have searched and found a video. If you are downloading to save for a later date, remember to always download videos to your My Documents - not your H Drive.

Haven't been using United Streaming? Or didn't know we had access to this? Email Colleen to set up an account. The videos can truly enhance your classroom curriculum.

Already using United Streaming? Consider doing this - use the controls in media player to pause the video on your SMART Board, have students summarize segments, answer essential or comprehension questions, or give students a guideline of what to listen/watch for during the video. In addition, most videos have a Related Materials tab with graphic organizers, handout and discussion ideas. One last tip - leave the lights on when viewing the video. This will help the classroom atmosphere maintain an educational feel rather than an entertainment feel with the lights off.
Tech Tip #16 – My Content (United Streaming)
  Did you know you can organize your United Streaming videos into a My Content category? This organization feature is part of United Streaming, so there is no need to download videos (unless you are wanting it for annotations). The other benefit to this feature is you can access it from any computer attached to the Internet.
 
Here's how to put videos into My Content:
1. Log into United Streaming as yourself.
2. Search for your video.
3. Select a video from your search results. You'll notice you have the option of the full video or video segments.
4. If you want to add the entire video to your My Content, with the full video tab selected, click the Add button. The window that opens will prompt you to add it to a folder. You can either create a new folder at this point or add the video to an existing folder.
5. Once your folder is created or selected, click Add.
6. If you want to add a segment of the video to your My Content, click the Video Segment tab and check the box of the video segments to add. Click the Add button. The window that opens will prompt you to add it to a folder. You can either create a new folder at this point or add the video to an existing folder.
 
To access your My Content, click the link in the banner at the top of the page that says My Content. This will take you to a screen where you can see all your folders and organized videos.
Tech Tip #17 – Images (United Streaming)
 

United Streaming offers an entire library devoted to images. These can be great for illustrating cultures, dress, historical eras, cross sections, and other features our students may not see regularly. An image placed on the SMART Board can be annotated, labeled or even studied in enhancing curriculum content.

Here's how to search for images in United Streaming
1. Log in to United Streaming as yourself.
2. To search for an image, type the image description in the Search box then use the drop down menu to select "image" in the Within box. Keep in mind your image description will be return results even from within the image description so be as descriptive as possible. ("Pioneers" will return westward travelers as well as leaders in science. However, "emigrants" will return mostly westward travelers.)
3. Once a search has been conducted, a page with your image choices will appear. Select your desired image.
4. Now you have two choices of how to use the image - download it or save it to your My Content.
4a. So, to download, click the size you want to use - small, medium or large. Select Save and navigate to the location to where you will save. This will be the only way you will be able to use the images in a document.
4b. To save to your United Streaming My Content, click the Add button. You will be prompted to save to an existing folder or make a new folder. Click the Add button after selecting or making a folder. To access your My Content, click the link in the banner at the top of the page that says My Content. This will take you to a screen where you can see all your folders and organized videos from last week and images from this week.
Tech Tip #18 – Quizzes and Blackline Masters (United Streaming)
 

As the tips for United Streaming continue, I wanted to point out where you can find pre-developed quizzes and activities for United Streaming Videos.
 
Quizzes
Some United Streaming videos have pre-developed quizzes for certain videos. These can be found under the Related Materials tab after selecting a video from the search results. Notice that each has a link for a "printer friendly" version of the quiz. However, there are not many quizzes. So your other option is to look at the Blackline Masters.
 
Blackline Masters
The Blackline Masters are also found under the searched video's Related Materials tab. These blacklines materials have various activities ranging from KWLs, pretest, posttests and worksheets. These all open in .pdf files and are easily printable.

Tech Tip #19 – PrimoPDF
 

The first resource we will look at is PrimoPDF. This program will convert your documents into a pdf file (portable document format). You might find yourself using PrimoPDF when emailing or electronically sharing documents. Converting the file to a pdf is a good idea if the recipient of your document doesn't have the program the document was developed in or if you don't want the recipient to make any changes to the document .
 
To install this program on your computer:
1. go to http://tinyurl.com/37pr5w

2. Click the Download Now button
3. Click Run. It will take a few minutes to complete the download.
4. When the program has downloaded, click Run one more time. This time agree to everything - click next, agree to the terms, next and next again to complete the install.
 
When you are ready to make a pdf file:
1. open your document. This could be a Microsoft document, Notebook or about any other document.
2. Go to File, Print and select PrimoPDF from the drop down option of printers and click OK. (You won't actually print this page, but capture it and ultimately save it.)
3. The window that opens, click the small box with the ellipsis to navigate to the location to save the document. Name it something relavent. Finally click Save. The document will open as a preview in the pdf file.

Tech Tip #20 – TinyURL
 

Do you have problems with students typing website addresses incorrectly? Is the address too long? While the best way to share a website address would be through your classroom website, TinyURL is a website that will convert a very long URL into a "tiny url"! (A URL is a website's address.) To use this feature, copy the web address you want to share, go to http://tinyurl.com, paste the address in the "Enter long URL to make tiny" field, and click Make TinyURL. This will generate a URL similar to http://.tinyurl.com/####. Now you're ready to share the address through a shared folder, Word document or even an email.

Tech Tip #21 – TeacherTube
 

TeacherTube is education's answer to YouTube. Similar to YouTube, TeacherTube has video submissions. However the video submissions are by the educator community with the intent of sharing instructional videos. Additionally, this site can provide professional development around educator-type topics; be a place where teachers can post videos designed for students to learn a new concept; or be a place to post student developed products for a demonstration of learned concepts. Check it out at http://www.teachertube.com/.

Tech Tip #22 – MAP Resources
 

I've compiled a list of testing resources which include release items from Missouri as well as other states at http://www1.center.k12.mo.us/edtech/resources/MAP.htm. You can also get to this site by going to the EdTech home page at http://www1.center.k12.mo.us/edtech/ and clicking on the MAP Resources button. This has great resources for all grade levels, whether you test or not. Don't forget that those resources that are in a pdf format can be captured into Notebook so you can annotation with your practice and review. (Need a refresher on capturing? See http://www1.center.k12.mo.us/edtech/SB/archive.htm#12.)

Tech Tip #23 –  Lingro
 

Lingro (http://lingro.com) is an interactive site for discovering definitions to unknown words. It's a great site to differentiate for your kids who might need just a bit more help reading and understanding websites. To use this site, very simply copy the web address of the student research website into the Lingro website field. Click the translation arrow and your webpage will open in Lingro. Now all the words on the webpage become clickable. When students come across an unknown word, they just click it for a definition or translation. (Notice you can determine if you want the translation to be in English, Spanish or French.)

Tech Tip #24 –  NaturalReader
 

NaturalReader software is a text to speech program that converts any text into spoken words. You need to download NaturalReader from http://www.naturalreaders.com. Click on the download icon to begin the download agreeing to everything. Once downloaded, double click the icon on the desktop. Once the program opens, click the Go to Miniboard for a floating toolbar. With the floating tool bar open, go to a website.
 
Now that it's downloaded, NaturalReader will read anything that you highlight on a website - single words, a paragraph or entire page.
 
This version of NaturalReader does have a "mechanical" voice, but is free and will assist students by reading parts or an entire website aloud.

Tech Tip #25 –  Equation Editor, Symbol, Superscript and Subscript
 

The Equation Editor, symbol and subscript and superscripts are all features that can be enabled in Microsoft Word. With these options available, foreign language accents, scientific and mathematical notation insertion is very easy. At the elementary level, this could be mathematical signs including multiplication, division, less than, greater than or equal to, powers, etc. Here is the document that will help with installation.

Tech Tip #26 - Keyboard Accent Marks
 

In following up last week's Tech Tip of using the Equation Editor, inserting symbols and scripting options, this week's tech tip relates most directly to foreign language teachers. Here is a document that has the keyboard strokes for inserting letters with accent marks. The great thing about these commands is that they also work when typing in Notebook! Just be sure to use the number pad on the right side of your keyboard - these commands do not work with the row of numbers above the keyboard letters.

Tech Tip #27 - Blogs
 

Do you know what a blog is? A blog (short for "web log") is a website where entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. Often blogs are online journals of sorts where the author is responding, blogging, to just about anything under the sun. Ask your students, I'm sure they either have their own blog, or have responded to one in the past.
 
There are several classroom applications for blogging. Setting up your own blog gives your students a much more global audience and heightens their awareness in writing. Literature responses, summaries, or reflections in general. What about a book study where students, teachers, administrators, parents, authors, etc, are actively responding to scenarios, questions, or just posting thoughts in general about a book the community is reading?
 
I would recommend using Class Blogmeister. This particular site hosts your blogs and is geared toward educators. This site if very safe - safe in that you have the option of issuing a password to gain access to your blog. In this sense, not just anyone can get into your blog and read it. Safe also in that you read and approve or delete all student comments before they get posted to your blog.

Tech Tip #28 - Windows Keyboard Shortcuts
 

A few weeks ago I sent out a tip for inserting accent marks and scientific and mathematical notations. I just ran across this document that has Windows XP keyboard shortcuts at http://websupportblog.files.wordpress.com/2006/10/keyboard-shortcuts-trifold.pdf
 
A keyboard shortcut is when you use a series of keys to preform a certain computer function. For example, ctrl+c is the shortcut to copy text, ctrl+v is the shortcut to paste, etc. The great thing about shortcuts is they can preform a function far faster than finding the command in a menu. While you won't use all of these features, there might be a few in the list that are commands you find yourself doing often such as logging off, minimizing all windows, closing programs, and many others.
 
So in this time of the year where times seems to be of the essence, hopefully this tip will help you save some time as well.

Tech Tip #29 - Wikis
 

Have you heard of wikis? Wikipedia defines a wiki as software that allows users to collaboratively create, edit, link, and organize the content of a website, usually for reference material. Wikis are often used to create collaborative and community driven websites. Wikipedia itself is one of the better known wikis.
 
The Internet is constantly changing and improving - the collaboration a wiki offers is one of the dramatic changes that lead people to refer to this "new" Internet as Web 2.0 or the Read/Write Web. The ability to collaborate actively rather than reading static webpages is the power behind Web 2.0 tools, and a wiki is one of those tools. Blogs are another communication tool that adds power to the Internet.
 
So what can you do with a wiki? There are several teacher activities I want to share with you.

Once a wiki has been set up, users log into the wiki and are able to edit the content. Did you notice the Article (actual content), Discussion (where you log in to edit) and History (tracks changes by user log in) tabs? This is how the collaboration is completed. Think about this in terms of adding additional information, summaries, chapter reviews, scheduling and planning or even collaboratively developing content.

Tech Tip #30 - Podcasts
 

What is a podcast? A podcast is a radio program produced with a computer, microphone, and recording software, then uploaded to a website a a program post for the world to access. Podcasts work on any devide that accepts mp3 files (any mp3 players, iPods, Nanos, etc.) and can connect to the Internet. Don't have an mp3 device? Not to worry! You can listen to most all of these without downloading the podcast.
 
What is the content found on a podcast? Essentially anything and everything, from educational topics, to study guides, even how to better use your SMART Board. Here are a few that might be of interest:
 
- Radio WillowWeb - classroom content from grades K - 5; select the link and you can even listen online!
- Education Podcast Network - content for all subjects at all levels
- Speaking of History - 8th Grade American History StudyCasts - great example of content review done by the teacher in preparation for tests.
- Grammar Girl - Quick and Dirty Tips for Better Writing - great at any level
- SMART Board Lesson Podcast - great tips and tricks for SMART Board use
- Finally, Center's Podcasts - our first attempt of podcasting with 5th grade students

Tech Tip #31 - SMART Board Podcasts
 

We've been talking about the Web 2.0 tools in the previous weeks. I wanted to point out a podcast site that is well worth your time and directly applies to all teachers in Center.
 
The SMART Board Lesson Podcast has a purpose of offering free podcasts that focuses on using SMART Boards in the classroom. Each episode will feature a lesson, a podcast, and user comments. The goal of this podcast to share lesson ideas that use technology to engage students in learning with a focus on SMART Board Interactive Whiteboards between educators. Once at the site, you don't even need to download the podcasts to an mp3 player. By clicking the play icon (the triangle under the title of the podcast number) you can listen to the podcast online.

Tech Tip #32 - MOREnet Research Resources
 

As students are completing research for the year, don't forget about MOREnet's Internet resources. There are a lot of free resources we have access to inside the district.

http://www.more.net/online/index.html has many great online resources. These are an overview of the main resources:

1. Gale Discovering Collection - overview essays, critical analyses, biographies, primary sources, creative works and multimedia in history, literature, biography, science and social studies

2. Learning Express Library - designed to help people improve testing skills including practice test from SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, etc.

3. NewsBank - provides full text of news features, special interest stories, editorials, etc, from Missouri publications including KC Star, St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

4. Annenberg Media - provides access to PD materials including video, live streaming and other materials.

5. NetSmartz Workshop - an interactive Internet safety resource for parents, child and educators that teaches how to stay safe on the Internet.

6. Missouri Resources - including Finding Missouri: Our History and Heritage and Virtually Missouri - a digital colleciton from Missouri libraries, archives, historical societies and museums.

7. Other Online Resources - including ERIC Database, National Library of Medicine Databases and Electronic Resources, Scientific Living, Tree of Life (collaborative effort of biologists around the world), two virtual field trips "Inside the Artists Studio" and "Lewis and Clark, eThemes, and the Internet Public Library.

Tech Tip #34 - Notebook Version 10 is here!
 

Version 10 of SMART Notebook is out! There have been several great enhancements to this newest version of Notebook. Some of these include an easy way to insert a table, dual page display, shape recognition tools, object animation (similar to PowerPoint animation features), a magic pen that allows disappearing ink, magnifier and spotlight tool, and an active alignment.
 
Are you interested in trying this out? You will need to download two files to your computer and register it when the downloads complete. You can download it by going to your My Computer, Vol2 on Center3, Teachers' Resources folder, then double click SMART_Notebook_Setup_10. Once that has installed, install the driver by double clicking SMART_Board_Driver_Setup_10 in the same folder. Let everything install.

Tech Tip #35 - What kind of a Notebook user are you?
 

What kind of a Notebook user are you? Take a look at this spectrum of Notebook use. Are you still using the board as a way to display videos? or a whiteboard? or even technically advanced overhead projector? Want to improve your skills? Then now is the time time to register for the Notebook courses this summer!
 
Both courses will focus on the new version of Notebook 10. The Basics of the SMART Board class will focus on Notebook templates, the galleries and new this year, an interactive tool kit. Classroom Applications of the SMART Board goes beyond just Notebook use and gets into the visual-ness the SMART Board offers - graphic organizers, advanced PowerPoint use, and some video as well.

Tech Tip #36 - Summer Storage, etc.
 

As you are preparing to check out of your rooms, here's a small technology checklist . . .

1. You should be saving all documents to your H Drive. If you aren't, you will need to back up all your documents and Internet favorites to your H Drive. Please do not save images, videos or other personal documents to the H Drive. These can be burned or saved to a flash drive. Computers will be reimaged this summer. Failing to back up to your H Drive will result in lost documents and Internet favorites. Please contact the technology department if you have any questions about this!
2. In following up #1, you will need to reinstall all professional, or othwise, programs to your computer. Keep in mind the technology department does not support personal printers or scanners. You will need to reinstall programs and hook that back up yourself.
3. Please DO NOT move any technology between rooms! Computers and printers are associated with classrooms, not teachers.
4. Locate your speaker and projector remotes and the SMART Board styluses and eraser. Place them in your grey bag. Of course, if your room is being used for summer school, keep these supplies out.
5. Please unplug the power cable from your projector.
6. If you would like to clean your SMART Board, you may do so with water on a soft cloth. The pen tray can be wiped down with water on a soft cloth as well. If it's really dirty, you may use Expo Dry Erase Cleanser sprayed onto a soft cloth and wipe the board down that way. Either way, be sure to log off so the wiping doesn't scramble your desktop icons.
7. All email will remain the same after reimaging of your computer - you will not loose saved or sent items.
