| Word Parts (1-3) |
Students build their skills with compound
and polysyllabic words by learning to chunk "big words" into manageable
parts. Students begin to discover syllabication, build compound words,
spell, add prefixes and suffixes, answer riddles using rhyming words, and
create personal word banks. |

Students build their coordinate skills by identifying
locations on a grid, moving using cardinal directions and
